Kolkata, June 3, 2025 — Under the golden lights of Sarat
Sadan in Howrah, West Bengal, the stage lit up last evening with creativity,
joy, and recognition as the International Film Festival Bay of Bengal concluded
with its much-anticipated award ceremony. The event was organized jointly by
Voyage Tech Studio and the Indian Film Makers Association (IFMA) – West Bengal
State Unit.
The evening was more than just an awards show — it was a
tribute to the spirit of filmmaking, especially the voices that rise from the
heart of Bengal. From short films that touched the soul to international
entries that showcased diverse storytelling, this celebration was truly global
in scale yet intimately local in emotion.
Ramachandran Reddy, National General Secretary of IFMA,
shared with the press, "Filmmakers from several Indian states and even
international territories joined this festival. It was heartening to see such
artistic unity."
Adding to this, Badal Sarkar, President of the West Bengal
Unit of IFMA, remarked, "Several Bengali short films were showcased with
pride. Talented filmmakers across genres and formats were recognized for their
brilliant contributions."
The ceremony was graced by several dignitaries from the
world of art and media, including journalist and filmmaker Ritabrata
Bhattacharya, producer-director Shiuli Gomes, legendary percussionist Mallar
Ghosh with actress-wife Mallika Ghosh, and noted Odissi dance exponent Soma
Guha. Their presence uplifted the spirit of the evening, turning the stage into
a canvas of cultural brilliance.
In an age when regional cinema continues to fight for space
and recognition, this festival served as a reminder that powerful stories know
no language barrier. The Bay of Bengal Film Festival not only celebrated
filmmaking, it also celebrated emotion, heritage, and a collective passion for
storytelling.
As the curtains fell, the echo of claps, camera shutters,
and heartfelt speeches left behind an afterglow that promises more such
festivals in Bengal’s cinematic future.
Veritas Times is proud to share such milestones that amplify
regional voices and showcase the vibrant spirit of India's cultural scene.
