Veteran actress Moushumi Chatterjee recently offered candid insights into the differing ways Bollywood legends Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna handled fame. In an interview with Filmfare, she highlighted the stark contrast between the two superstars' approaches to stardom.

Chatterjee described Rajesh Khanna as a "spoilt brat," noting that his unprecedented stardom in the late 1960s and early 1970s led to a sense of entitlement and a need for constant attention. She remarked, "He was a star, he had that stardom which neither Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar, nor Dev Anand had seen. Maybe for a short term, but I had witnessed it. Maintaining a mental balance is very difficult when you're such a big celebrity and you know you'll turn sand to gold when you touch it. So tantrum comes out."

In contrast, Chatterjee praised Amitabh Bachchan for his grounded nature and ability to remain unaffected by his success. She stated, "I have never seen Amitabh with chamchas. Never seen anybody around him. But I used to see it with Rajesh. Kaka needed that attention, pampering. So, he played his life role the way he wanted. It's sad that he just fell hard after seeing that high."

Chatterjee also expressed empathy for Bachchan, suggesting that his continuous performance to uphold his image might have been burdensome. She noted, "Amitabh Bachchan is a very intelligent man. He always uses politically right words. I sometimes pity him because I think most of the time he is only performing because that is all that he knows. I might be wrong but that’s how I feel about him. It is because of his image."

Having worked with both actors in several films, including "Manzil," "Roti Kapada Aur Makaan," and "Benaam" with Bachchan, and "Prem Bandhan" and "Anuraag" with Khanna, Chatterjee's observations stem from firsthand experience. Her reflections offer a nuanced perspective on how each superstar navigated the pressures of fame and the impact it had on their personal and professional lives.
